How To Rock Cancelled!

I don’t even know where to start. Nickelodeon has decided not to renew How To Rock for a second season.

How To Rock Cancelled!

The news was broken by How to Rock’s showrunner and Executive Producer David Israel on his Tumblr and confirmed by Nickelodeon on their offical twitter profile.

An excerpt from David’s post:

There have been rumors swirling around about the future of How To Rock so I thought it time to set the record straight. Nickelodeon has decided, unfortunately, not to give How To Rock a second season. I know this news will be very disappointing for many of you. Believe me, it’s disappointing for me, too.

Why isn’t the show coming back? There’s no one simple answer. NIckelodeon is going through a transition right now. You already know that iCarly and Victorious are not coming back. Nickelodeon has many new shows in production and development that they believe will better suit their audience. While I don’t love their decision, I have no choice other than to accept it. The Nickelodeon executives who’ve worked on the development and production of How to Rock have been incredibly supportive of the show this past year. They’re good people who want nothing more than to make the best shows for their audience. I know it wasn’t an easy decision for them — they truly do like the show — and I’m grateful for the time and energy they’ve put in to make How To Rock as good as it is. Or was.

Nickelodeon certainly is going through a transition right now. iCarly is ending. They cancelled Bucket & Skinner. They cancelled Victorious. And now they’ve cancelled How To Rock. Supah Ninjas and Big Time Rush are the only things they’ve kept (for now at least, as I have a feeling Supah Ninjas won’t last either.)

It begs the question, what game are the Nick executives playing here? It’s just not smart to cancel so many shows at once because if a person is a fan of two shows and you cancel one, they’ll generally keep watching the other long enough that you can hook them on that new show you intended to replace the first show with. But if you cancel both shows at once you’ve lost that viewer. Simple as that.

There are nine episodes of HTR left and Nick will be airing them over the next couple months. The last episode, “How To Rock Christmas,” will air on December 8th 2012.

Meanwhile, iCarly is scheduled to air it’s finale in November 2012. Victorious still has 15 episodes and will likely be stretched out into the nearly part of next year. And if you want to see Bucket & Skinner apparently you have to move to Canada. :/

You forgot about Nickelodeon’s monster hit, Fred. All I know is as long as Nickelodeon has a show that makes my ears bleed, I’ll be okay.

I didn’t care for How To Rock, but you do have my sympathy. Nick’s ratings took a nose dive last year, and those in power still seem to be a bit rattled.

    “Fred” is just…beyond description.

So basically I’m just about done with Nick after Victorious, unless they introduce some new hotties.

Disney, please hijack at least Victorious. Please steal them and run the show (maybe it wont be as great but keep them)

Disclosure: Have never watched HTR. But this trend of closures (except iCarly which has reached it heyday) sucks

You have got to be kidding me. I don’t care what they think is ‘best for their viewers’. They’re making a terrible decision cancelling How to Rock. Sure, I’m biased because I freaking love that show, but that doesn’t change the fact that it was a good show and it had plenty of fans. They already do a horrible job airing shows consistently, but now they’re cancelling good shows early. It’s been explained that Nickelodeon tends to cancel shows around the 60th episode or so, so I’m not really pissed about Victorious. I’ll live without that, but How to Rock is a good show and it’s being cancelled to early. I’m tired of seeing good shows get cancelled early. I was JUST starting to really get into the characters, and now I won’t even have them for much longer….

On another note, I am sort of excited for Sam and Cat, but not super excited. It’s cool that’s gonna have two characters that I like, but that’s the problem. It’ll be two characters that I’m familiar with, so that part isn’t really pumping me up. I like Sam and Cat, but I’d love to see Jennette and Ariana in some different roles. I’ve never seen Ariana in anything else, so her most specifically.

As far as the new shows that are coming out soon, it better be worth it in the end. I’ve enjoyed everything that Nickelodeon has produced lately, even The Fred Show which I think would’ve been a much better show to cancel. Don’t get me wrong, I like The Fred Show to some degree, but it’s not that funny, and I honestly don’t think it ever will be, but it’s not bad either, but because of that, I think it should go over some of the other shows being cancelled. I’m desperately hoping to see more Supah Ninjas soon, but that isn’t looking promising at the moment. I really enjoyed that show, like A LOT. BTR hasn’t had a new episode in FOREVER which is what I was talking about when I said that Nick is horrible at airing shows consistently. A little break is nice from time to time, but they haven’t showed a new episode of BTR in over a month, and prior to that only like 3 or 4 were aired. That’s pathetic. The season just started, and the show wasn’t announced to be canceled, so it shouldn’t be this inconsistent with the episodes. I really can’t stand how poorly Nick airs episodes. It’ll really make you lose faith in it after a while. Bucket and Skinner was another winner, and they just dropped it in a hole. Honestly, I’ve no problem moving to Canada, but it’s not an option, and wouldn’t do it solely for television programming. However, I’ve contemplated moving to Canada before. Maybe I will one day, but for now, no.

How To Rock is a bad show. Doesn’t matter if you like it or not – honestly it’s a bad show. My nieces like most kid shows but they don’t like this show. I like kid shows because I watch them all the ime with them and I don’t like this show either.

Stories are bad, acting is the usual subpar, but thsi show lacks depth and doesn’t have the right mix of characters and interesting stories.

Victorious is a good show. Although they have put out some really bad episodes at times. The Breakfast Club spoof was horrible.Someone thought they were being clever but that was total garbage and badly acted, bad lines, script – everything.

The April Fool’s day episode was horrible also. It made zero sense. Was the producers goal to change the meaning of April Fool’s Day or what? Inside joke, trying to be clever, change meaning or whatever it was terrible. Both episodes I mentioned are really unwatchable.

Oh yeah, inb4 someone says I’m jealous and I’m not as clever or talented. Ha, 1st, I’m not the one making shows that are supposed to entertain. 2nd, given the chance I’m sure I could write a better episode.

Really? Really? Cancelling good shows just to run Spongebob (which should have been gone) and Fred (which should have died like Rue in the Hunger Games>SPOILER<)???

It’s opionater not opinionater. It’s a silly, nonsensical word made to look like another (made up) word much like How To Rock was made to look like it was a good show.

Unless you are a studio exec and plan on paying me I’m not writing any story ideas or episodes.

What the heck nickelodeon! First they announce House Of Anubis is having there last season. Then They cancel all these shows! Splata lot barely had 5 shows! If they cancel the Winx Club which I doubt cuz its a popular show to girls I will NEVER watch NIck again! Thanks A Lot Nickelodeon

@opionater: Sorry for the name mix-up. And if you won’t write an episode, can we have an example of something you have written. My point is people often say they could do things they ever do. Nothing personal, and I admit to doing the same thing, but I have a feeling you’ve never written a script, just thought you could.

I’m actually not big on How To Rock, but I do watch it only because it stars 4 cute-to-hot females. The strange thing to me is that Cymphonique is one of Nick’s up-and-coming hot commodities, and they are cancelling the show that is giving her exposure and showcasing her. She’s a Nickelodeon homegrown talent, and it seems like she is gaining some popularity, so I don’t get why they are cancelling this show. Ratings have been tanking for Nick last year, but part of the problem is a lack of consistent schedule for these shows. It’s terrible marketing and planning to have a new episode sometimes as long as a month. I don’t know what Nick is doing here, but from what I’ve been reading from fans, it’s just head-scratching decisions that really don’t make any sense to these Nick fans. The cancellation of Victorious is the decision that is the most confusing to me.

it sucks nick is cancelling it. most shows that i like, get cancelled. i loved catscratch and the x’s. i mean, i liked it and thought it was becoming popular, but it sucks. i mean, i can understand why they’d cancel a show if the cast doesn’t wanna do it anymore, like friends, or if they run out of ideas, like rugarts, or if its plainly stupid, like bucket and skinner. i hate that nick cancelled victorious, it was starting to get cool. i just don’t get the detention one, like cat says that she ate meat in an episode. i am happy icarly’s ending, cause i didnt get the jokes. i just think the reason is, cause an episode comes out like every 2 months for like 2 years and then stops airng for like a year. it turning into a cartoon network. i was pretty sad when they stopped camp lazlo and foster’s. foster’s was funny. before i watched it 24/7, pretty much every show, except yui-ghoui- didnt get it. now i only watch pokemon and regular show. i just hate when nick stops a show that’s super popular. they lose viewer ship and its contagious, cause it spreads to other shows. hopefully, btr isnt next, cause my friend is obessed. i also hate that they just pretty much air spongebob. i bet winx wont stop, cause of their contract, saying 2 seasons, and then they can do another channel- hopefully not 4kids. i hate how nicktoons is turning into a cartoon network. i used to always watch reruns of my favorite shows, like avatar and fairly odd parents, but now its becoming a boy channel. nick is starting to become my least favorite channel, on demand is now

so, i am mad about this. I hate that nick cancels a show after like 26 episodes. it sucks. its becoming more boyish. nick was my favorite channel, but now its my least. i used to watch cartoon network, pretty much now i watch regular show, riders of berk, and pokemon on the channel. i hate that they don’t cancel spongebob, i mean, spongebob was one of my favorite shows, but now i don’t get the episodes, like. its just this stupid thing with it, big time rush takes like every few months to air an episode. i mean, of course they’re gonna lose viewer ship. they can’t cancel a hit show like victorious. i heard the reason icarly’s ending is cause miranda cosgrove is going to college, so she doesnt really have time for acting and singing. can’t they just get another actress, like they did on meet the browns, when they used the new girl as brianna. i hate how most shows on nick end after like 60 episodes, what if the show’s popular. victorious was a cool show, but i dont get half of the jokes, why would nick cancel it.

My kids ask me, why their shows are always the same?? Jimmy Neutron, Fairly Odd Parents (even tough they made a few new episodes) and Foster’s Home for New Imaginary friends……!!!! They don’t care for sponge bob or all that ninja non-sense!!!!! They want Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam and Tom & Jerry!!! That big time rush crap, my teenagers don’t bother because they’re into good music. When ‘fred’ came on the first time, even my 5 year old said,”Que estupido, no me gusta!!!” Translated: How Stupid, I don’t like it!!!
So, just how retarded do you think your viewing audience is????!!!!
sponge bob, fred, and any ninja crap you think has a comback value, are the most idiotic, retarded, useless pieces of true American Cartoons!!!!!

Wow srsly? First Icarly, Victorious, and now HTR? What the truck nickelodeon? I agree i LOVED the first 2 fred movies, the third one was alright i guess, but the show is really repetitive and stupid… And i LOVED icarly and victorious but now they’re fading away, but htr hasn’t even aired their second season and they’re CANCELLING IT?!?!?! Major rage-quit, nickelodeon has officially lost a viewer, used to be fan of the network, and someone who used to love their shows :/. Spongebob used to be funny but now they barely air and it’s boring and doesn’t make sense anymore, i just, i just can’t handle this, this is stupid, Bye…

It’s sad really. Even if Victorious had a few bad/nonsensical episodes, it was still one of the best shows they had out on nick. It had the best characters, music and it was entertaining 😀 I couldn’t watch How to Rock and Bucket & Skinner cause i got bored. I never really gave SuperNinjas a chance and when i was finally getting into Big Time Rush, you know actually watching it instead of leaving it as background noise, they rarely air it anymore! I’ve outgrown spongebob, but even if I hadn’t I think the quality has really dropped. They use the same music/sound effects every new episode! Anyway, ICarly reached it’s prime, Victorious could have gone on longer, and HowtoRock never got a chance to settle. Fred, new spongebobs and I’m sure, any new shows Nick comes up with will become my new background noise T_T

The thing is there canceling all the good show’s that people watch and keeping the show’s nobody care’s for I like ICarly , Victorious, and How To Rock ..I didnt like Bucket & Skinner and nobody care’s about Big Time Rush anymore well actually it’s not that it’s more of it’s not as poppular as it was before it has no relevance ,Supah Ninja’s was not enjoyable either, Fred is wack as well.My thing with Fred is that when his first movie came out on Nick they should have immediately gave him his own show. Also the animated show’s they put on there is not enjoyable because it’s to out dated show’s such as Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles,Kung Fu Panda, and that alien she i forgot the name but it’s was from a funny movie but it’s not so funny now. I don’t have much hope for Sam & Cat i watched it but it’s just like know i think they should have made Cat smarter or something or had a different plot to the series not some babysitting job that’s pretty lame however it also depends on he viewers your trying to attract with ages like 6-10 ? I don’t know but there rating’s probably are gonna keep getting lower with all these new pathetic cartoon show’s and them dropping these big hit show’s like Victorious & How To Rock i can’t be mad about ICarly though i really Loved it but still there just dropping to many good show’s keeping and keeping the lame one’s

  34. DomoToriyama Avatar

I can’t get mad about ICarly because it was on for so long and when it was on it was really awesome plus show’s like that usually last 4 season’s anyways
